Lately in my studio I’ve been hearing a theme: “I’m being such a girl.”“I’m a woose.”“I’m pathetic at handling pain.” It’s said quietly, often with a laugh, but it reveals something important—many of us carry internal stories about how we should tolerate discomfort, how we should cope, or how we should hide what we feel. But where do these narratives even come from? Why do so many people feel
